Pastor-In-Residence

Roy Yanke

Executive Director

Roy Yanke

Executive Director

God’s servants need hope! Roy’s personal experience has shaped him in unique ways to come alongside the many pastors and their families who are “exited,” have fallen or are just plain burned out in ministry. He pastored for 17 years in an evangelical denomination. As a result of a major “crash and burn,” Roy experienced both the discipline and the grace of God through years of slow but steady growth, restoration and renewed hope. Prior to joining PIR Ministries in 2012, Roy spent 16 years working in a variety of manufacturing environments, including most recently as Quality Manager for a growing company.

While serving as a Regional Director for PIR Ministries, Roy interacted daily with pastors who are in need of a fresh dose of the message of restoration and renewal in Christ. Following the outstanding leadership provided by Ed Lochmoeller, Roy was appointed the Executive Director of PIR Ministries in 2016.

Roy and his wife, Deb, have been married for over 40 years and have one married daughter. Roy is an ordained ruling elder and regular teacher at Grace Chapel EPC in Michigan.

Because there is joy to be found in life… Roy plays bass in the worship band, enjoys jazz music and hockey, and his dog, Keillor.

Dr. Daniel Borg

Regional Director

Dr. Daniel Borg

Regional Director

Dan is quite familiar with the challenges pastors face. Most recently, he was the Senior Pastor of Bethany Church on the Hill in Thousand Oaks, CA where he served for 16 years. Prior to that, he served three churches in the Minnesota Baptist Conference. He is a graduate of Bethel Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota, and was a part-time instructor in Biola University’s BOLD program, teaching Bible and leadership classes. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Converge Southwest, while continuing to minister as an associate pastor in his local congregation.

Dan’s focus is in conflict management. He completed a program in Mediation and Conflict Management at California State University, Northridge, and offers conflict management assistance in three areas – the pro-active approach of equipping people to deal with conflict before disputes arise, coaching pastors and church leaders who are in the midst of conflict, and mediation.

Dan is part of the cadre of PIR Ministries Clergy Coaches. He believes that having a coach to provide advice, encouragement, support, and correction would be an asset for any pastor. Knowing there is a sounding board or a compassionate friend to talk with would mean a lot to any pastor, not only during times of crisis, but also in everyday ministry.

Dan and his wife Pam have two married children and five grandchildren. The live in Thousand Oaks, California.

Jason Eddy

Regional Director

Jason Eddy

Regional Director

Jason’s passion for supporting pastors, their spouses and children comes from the pain he has experienced in his own pastoral experiences and witnessed in the lives of close relatives and friends. Unfortunately the pain of church conflicts, forced exits, health challenges, broken family relationships, and personal failures often leave us wondering how to move forward. Jason’s greatest desire is for each of God’s children to know their Father’s heart for them, and to personally experience the love and grace they have preached to others for so many years. Jason has served in a variety of ministry roles, including youth pastor and church planter. Along with his work with PIR Ministries, he is currently the Pastor of Care and Connection at his home church.

At the top of his favorite things are his wife, Stephanie, and his children. He also enjoys pickups, boats, dirtbikes, and Michigan State football and basketball.

Cal and his wife, Dorothy, have been married for 57 years. They have three children and 14 grandchildren.

Tom Jameson

Regional Director

Tom Jameson

Regional Director

A transplanted Hoosier, Tom moved from the East Coast with his wife Cindy and 3 daughters in May of 2000 to continue a ministry career that began in 1985. The past 15 years have been especially formative in preparing him for his new role with PIR; joining the staff in 2015. His time as a pastor and his experience of the grace, mercy and hope found in Christ shape his call. Tom has a heart for pastors, a love for Christ’s church, and a passion to see all followers of Christ excelling in their gifts, which for him include listening, encouraging, teaching and shepherding. Tom and Cindy currently reside in Frankfort, IN.

Non-PIR stuff looks like golf, carpentry, walks and laughter. Plus, there’s that Red Sox obsession…!

Sean Nemecek

Regional Director

Sean Nemecek

Regional Director

Sean Nemecek brings 18 years of pastoral experience to his work in caring for pastors. As a third-generation pastor, he grew up listening to pastors talk about their joys and struggles in ministry. He loves ministry families!

Sean has written over 100 articles for his blog The Pastor’s Soul where he’s working to combat pastoral burnout by training churches to care for their pastors and training pastors to care for their own souls. He wants to help you invest in your pastor’s joy for the good of the church.

Sean is a creative guy. His hobbies include reading, cooking, photography, and woodworking. He once built a 125-gallon aquarium out of plywood and glass. Sean’s favorite quote comes from his Grandfather, “If you can read and follow directions, you can do almost anything.”

He is married to Amy, a book editor for Baker Publishing Group, and they have one son. They live in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Tim Young

Regional Director

Tim Young

Regional Director

Tim has a heart to walk with people in ministry. He has served the church for almost 25 years in various pastoral roles with the C&MA in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, and Washington. He has lived in the joys and challenges of pastoral ministry and understands the unique toll and the pressures that pastors and their families face.

Having navigated his own healing journey, he has experienced points of God’s miraculous grace—those moments where God breaks through as only God can. He has also learned to live in God’s sustaining grace—when He gives enough grace for each day as we persevere through hard times.

God has uniquely prepared him to serve with PIR as a regional director to offer help, healing, and hope to those serving in pastoral ministry. He believes this work is more important and vital than ever before.

Tim is currently pursuing certification in Spiritual Direction and enjoying opportunities to coach and mentor pastors.

Tim and Jewel have been married for 29 years and have four children. They currently live in Sandusky, Ohio.

Leonard Mukoma

Regional Director

Leonard Mukoma

Regional Director

Leonard was raised in Zimbabwe by parents who were very religious. He tried his best to attend family rituals and to go through most of the church ordinances but was not saved. On the 27th of November 1995 Leonard gave his life to Christ at a revival that was held near his village.

Currently, he’s pastoring a church and working with Inter-denominational programs in his town. Leonard is also involved in church planting, evangelism and has a passion for kid’s ministries. He has served for the 16 years in the local pastor’s fraternal, holding different positions, coordinating programs and learning a lot from working with pastors from different denominations.

By God’s grace, Leonard initiated a Bible school in 2019 which is training pastors and church leaders for free.

Leonard has experienced difficult times in ministry that lead to burnout, and many times felt like he was heading for a crush. Most of the challenges shaped him to be the kind of a leader he is today.

Anne Horton

Regional Representative

Anne Horton

Regional Representative

Anne has served as a Presbyterian pastor for almost 20 years in three churches—two as a solo pastor and one as an associate pastor. She has served on a variety of Presbytery committees that focus on caring for pastors in crisis. She has had training in conflict management at the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center, and has a Spiritual Direction Certificate from NewWay Ministries (Dr. Larry Crabb).

After experiencing burnout in her second church, she spent a year at International House of Prayer in Kansas City, MO, taking time to slow down and confront her tendency to overwork. A clergy couple began mentoring her, and she experienced the benefit of coaching for the first time.

Now residing in Cedarville, OH, she has been the pastor of Cedarville United Presbyterian Church for over ten years and currently serves as the President of the CedarCliff Ministerial Association. When not working, she enjoys cooking, sewing for a variety of missions, and hanging out with her Shih Tzu.

Jason Yum

Regional Representative

Jason Yum

Regional Representative

Jason has been an ordained minister in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church since 2013, however his ministry experience spans across two decades as he has been heavily involved in church ministry since 2001. He has served on the pastoral staff of three churches: two separate EPC churches in Berkeley, CA, near Seattle, WA plus a predominantly Asian church based in Atlanta. Each of his church staff experiences was unique and Jason intimately knows the struggles involved with exiting churches for a variety of reasons.

Joining PIR Ministries as a Volunteer Regional Representative is in many ways a providential opportunity for Jason as he has personally benefited from the wisdom and guidance of PIR leaders at key moments in his ministry career through what may have seemed like chance encounters, but in hindsight were God-ordained. Also, in his years since being involved in full-time ministry, Jason has met and engaged with a number of pastors and ministry workers who have exited churches, and so he is looking forward to continuing these types of conversations with the added empowerment and backing of PIR Ministries.

Karol finds great joy in performing administrative tasks.  After serving as the Church Administrator for the past 22 years at her home church, she decided to make a change and is excited to share her gifts with PIR.  She has the desire to serve God by organizing, administering, promoting, and helping the team with their various needs.

Kip Slawter

Ambassador at Large

No stranger to difficulties, and with extensive experience as a pastor in the local church, Kip is able to identify and empathize with both pastors and churches who are struggling and hurting. Over the years, Kip has been involved in various types of vocational ministries beyond the local church; at a denominational level, in church planting (both nationally and internationally) as well as theological training and education.

In 2010 Kip was paralyzed as a result of a fall while riding a bicycle on a country road. Now a quadriplegic Kip conducts ministry from a power chair with the assistance of some great technology and a great deal of support from his wife and others. He believes his injury was not an accident but another aspect of the ministry to which God has called him. Kip and Judy both welcome the opportunity to minister to other pastors and their families, especially in times of turmoil and uncertainty.

Kip and his wife Judy bring over 30 years of ministry experience to their work with PIR Ministries. They are currently residing in Newport News, VA. and have 4 grown children and 7 grandchildren.

Kip earned his D Min degree in 1979 from Covenant Theological Seminary and is a teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church in America.
